Arsenal have ‘asked for information’ on Roma midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo as they and Premier League sides eye up a potential deal.
That’s according to Roma Giallorossa, who back up other reports of the Gunners interest in the Italian midfielder.
We covered a report yesterday that stated Arsenal could ‘undermine’ Roma’s efforts to get Zaniolo signed up to a new deal at the club.
The Italian side have not yet started or considered starting such negotiations, but they would want to keep the player and get him signed to a new deal before too long as his current contract expires in 2024.
That means the next two windows could be their last to secure a good deal if he doesn’t renew and a report from Radio Radio Italy stated Arsenal were one of the clubs whose sirens were being heard.
Roma Giallorossa now follow that up by stating that Arsenal ‘drop in’ on the player and have ‘asked for information’ about his situation.
They explain that Zaniolo wants to renew his deal and will wait for the right moment to do so, with his entourage asking for €4.5 in fixed sums plus bonuses to put him among the top earners in the squad.
Roma, for their past, are proposing a €4m plus bonuses, so there is a difference to be made up and that has opened the door to a possible departure.
According to them the competition for the midfielder in the summer ‘will be fierce’ and Arsenal are one of those to come forwards.
For the time being they have not ‘presented any offers’ for January and it is more likely that they will make a bid in June. As far as they are concerned in Italy, they are to be ‘taken into consideration’ if no agreement can be reached between Roma and the player.
