Lazio signed Nuno Tavares from Arsenal on an initial loan deal in the summer transfer window.
The Roman club inserted a clause in the left-back’s contract which means they have an obligation to buy Tavares permanently if he plays 50% of games this season.
An update has now emerged about the defender and Arsenal could soon be set to earn a significant amount from the transfer.
Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by LaLazioSiamoNoi, have reported that Lazio do not want to wait too long to buy Tavares permanently.
They have brought forward talks and contact between the Italian giants and Arsenal are now scheduled for this week. Lazio’s objective is to sign the defender quickly and then potentially sell him on.
While the obligation to buy him permanently is set at €5m, Marco Baroni’s side want to negotiate a different deal.
The Gunners will earn from that and later, they will also stand to earn from Tavares’ future sale as they have a sell-on clause of 40% in his contract right now.
The Biancocelesti want to sell the full-back on for as much as they can and this will help Arsenal’s own finances as well.
