Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has completed a move to Atlético Madrid, with the Uruguayan arriving on a ‘dry loan’.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the midfielder has signed and ‘registered’ his contract with the Spanish club.

Torreira has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal all summer, with Mikel Arteta having made it clear he is not part of his plans.

He had looked extremely likely to return to Italy, but Atlético made a late push for his signature instead, with claims that Diego Simeone even contact the player personally to tell him he wanted him at the Wanda Metropolitano.

They became favourites to secure his signature, and it was claimed over the weekend that Torreira was flying to Madrid to finalise the deal.

That now appears to have happened, with TMW reporting the contract have been signed and ‘registered’, and he will be arriving at the Spanish club on loan for the rest of the season.

Now all that seemingly remains is the announcement from both clubs, who are apparently swapping midfielders on deadline day.
