Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona rounded off something of a bad period for Los Blancos, coming not long after Arsenal dumped them out of the Champions League in convincing fashion.
They’re four points behind Barcelona in La Liga and it’s looking unlikely they’ll be able to make that ground up. Sunday saw reports in Spain, including from Marca, state Carlo Ancelotti was just hours away from being shown the Bernabeu exit door for the second time.
Cadena Ser have published a report on how Real Madrid are facing difficulties ahead of the transfer window, with a move to the club not seen as quite as attractive as it once was. That’s largely due to money, and others offering good deals too.
One example pushed forward is Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. There had been confidence in Madrid that if Los Blancos truly wanted him, he’d ditch a plan to join Arsenal and pick them instead.
However, now the white flag is being gently raised and it’s even claimed that ahead of the Champions League match between Arsenal and Real Madrid, at the traditional lunch between directors, the Gunners told the Spanish they’ve ‘practically finalised’ Zubimendi’s arrival.
