While most of the stories about Sergej Milinković-Savić have been about Manchester United’s interest, we bring one to you today about Arsenal.

This comes from Corriere dello Sport on Friday, who explain the situation around the Serbian, who wants to leave, but for the right club.

Not only that, but Lazio also want to sell for the right price, but their requests of between €70-100m are a lot for a player whose contract expires next year.

The minimum price to approach Claudio Lotito is said to be €65m, which is the maximum fee those around the player feel is acceptable.

However, ‘possible proposals, so far, do not exceed €50m’, and these are figures Lotito ‘doesn’t want to hear about’, while he also only wants cash with no players as counterparts.

As for who can afford him, Ten Hag and co. make the most sense, and ‘there are no other solutions in the Premier League unless Sergej decides to accept the courtship of Arsenal or Newcastle’, to whom he appears to have already said no to (for now).

In fact, the Gunners ‘have tried in the past and returned to the office in May’, but the fact they aren’t in the Champions League could be a problem.

Still, Arsenal ‘would seem willing to cross the €50m mark, perhaps approaching €60m’, but that, as mentioned above, might not be enough.

That being said, we are only at the start of the transfer window, and a lot of posturing is taking place, but if the prospect of losing Milinković-Savić on a free starts to become a reality, perhaps Lotito will start rethinking his demands.

Then again, when he does, it might already be too late…
