Francisco Trincão has been linked with multiple Premier League clubs so far this season, with the Portuguese media often taking questionable claims from the UK and running too far with them.
The now 25-year-old moved from SC Braga to Barcelona in 2020 but failed to make any real impact at the Camp Nou despite arriving in a big money deal. He was sent to Wolves and then Sporting CP on loan, with the latter eventually making the move permanent in 2023.
So far this season he’s played 50 matches, scoring 8 goals and adding 18 assists along the way. Friday’s edition of Record has him splashed across their front page and pushes Arsenal interest forward.
Arsenal are said to stand out in a supposed transfer race and it’s claimed Mikel Arteta’s side have repeatedly sent an official to watch Trincão in action for Sporting.
Record also note Trincão faced Arsenal in the Champions League this season.
Three Premier League clubs are said to have made contact, with Arsenal the only side named. According to the report, all three are offering Trincão a salary of €3m a year after tax.
Sporting are currently trying to secure a renewal with Trincão’s camp. His current deal lasts until June 2027.
This all feels largely like an effort to put pressure on the Portuguese club and therefore it’s hard to work out how genuine the Arsenal claims are.
