Today Lucas Perez will bid farewell to Deportivo La Coruna at a press conference, and there’s likely to be tears. The local boy has only played for Depor for a couple of seasons, but there’s a huge bond developed over that time and a lot of love from each side to the other.
The transfer is history making for Depor, explain Marca in their Monday edition. Lucas Perez goes into the club’s record books as one of their three biggest sales ever.
The other two are Rivaldo and Flavio Conceicao, so he’s in very good company. Depor need the money and Lucas Perez himself has spoken this year about knowing he could provide that.
Because of the emotional connection, Lucas Perez wants to walk out the front door of Depor in a friendly transfer. That’s one of the reasons Arsenal are paying the amount of the player’s clause, but not activating… rather completing a conventional transfer.
La Vox De Galicia say the player is set to speak to the media to explain why he’s going to Arsenal, but it’ll be a ‘see you later’ rather than a straight goodbye.
