The Italian media is now sounding sure that Arsenal are in the front row to sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
On Tuesday, Calcio Mercato said the Gunners ‘forcefully entered the race’ for the player. Then on Wednesday morning, Corriere dello Sport revealed the ‘monstrous proposal’ worth €47m coming from London.
Now it’s journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who shares some information on this pursuit. He claims Arsenal are indeed in ‘pole position’ for the signing and this week could be ‘decisive’ to close a deal.
It’s said that even though Calafiori has drawn some movements from Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen, it was the Gunners who presented a ‘project’ and a ‘more intriguing offer’ both for the player and his club.
Di Marzio doesn’t mention that offer revealed by Corriere this morning. He just claims that the parties are ‘closer and closer’ and an agreement could be found in the coming days.
All those reports from Italy make us believe that Arsenal could indeed be close to completing this deal.
