Flamengo are keen on signing Arsenal’s Jorginho in the summer window and that has been reported in Brazil for most part of this year.
The midfielder has less than four months left on his contract and is expected to leave the Gunners as a free agent.
Earlier this month, Bolavip Brasil reported the Arsenal player has a verbal agreement in place with Flamengo for a three-year contract worth €280,000 per month.
Coluna Do Fla now state the 33-year-old’s agent was in attendance at the Maracanã to watch the Brazilian club’s 1-0 win over Fluminense in the second leg of the Campeonato Carioca final at the weekend.
Flamengo won the tie 2-1 on aggregate and the report states their sporting director, José Boto, has confirmed the meeting with Jorginho’s agent. The outlet, however, haven’t relayed any quotes from the official about this meeting.
During the celebration on the pitch, journalist Gabriel Reis had a chat with Boto, where he specifically asked if “have you talked yet” with the Arsenal man’s representative.
Responding to that, he said: “No, no. Not yet. Not yet.”
The media local to Flamengo could provide updates on Boto’s meeting with Jorginho’s agent.
The Brazil-born Italy international made 24 appearances for Arsenal this season.
