Last summer, Arsenal allowed Sambi Lokonga to join Sevilla on loan with a €12m buying option.

On February 5th, the midfielder publicly stated he would like to continue with the La Liga side. A month later, he again requested to extend his stay at Sevilla beyond this season.

Last month, we covered claims from Spain that the Andalusian club aren’t planning to pay €12m for the Arsenal man. His contract at the Emirates expires in 2026 and it was also stated Sevilla want to take advantage of this to bring the price down.

A fresh report from Vamos Mi Sevilla FC reiterates that again and insists the Spanish club won’t be retaining the 25-year-old.

He’s played 1,493 minutes from 21 games this season and injuries restricted his minutes.

The Belgium international has been plagued by injuries since joining Sevilla. He suffered his first hamstring injury in July and his second in September before picking up the same injury in February. He’s already been on the sidelines for close to three months.

On Tuesday, Sevilla confirmed the Arsenal owned player has suffered his fourth injury setback of the season and this will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Therefore, Sevilla won’t retain him, and the report adds they won’t even make an attempt to lower the price.

Lokonga will return to Arsenal and is unlikely to part of Mikel Arteta’s plans next season. The Gunners would have to find a solution for him in the summer window.
