Over the past few weeks, the Brazilian media have talked about Flamengo’s desire to sign Arsenal’s Jorginho.
The midfielder’s contract expires in the summer and Mikel Arteta appears to have asked the Gunners to retain him. Last week, O Dia reported Arsenal are reluctant to offer him an extension and that the 33-year-old has decided to join Flamengo.
Bolavip Brasil claim the Arsenal player has received an offer from Qatar. They provide no information about the club or the details of their proposal, and that won’t matter because Jorginho has rejected it.
The report adds he has no plans to sign a new contract at the Emirates and his intention is to join the Brazilian club for free in the summer.
At this point in time, the South American club are favourites to secure his services in the middle of this year.
Bolavip states Flamengo sporting director José Boto has scheduled a trip in March to close the agreement with Jorginho.
Earlier this month, UOL reported Jorginho has appointed intermediary Dudu Baptista to negotiate on his behalf with Flamengo.
Bolavip may have gathered an update from the intermediary about the offer from Qatar.
