Yet to be part of Arsenal’s squad in the first two games of the season, it’s evident that Folarin Balogun is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Hints had already been given throughout pre-season, but the Gunners’ demands for a transfer, despite there being no lack of teams interested, are holding everything up.
That’s what L’Equipe are reporting on Wednesday, as they give us the latest surrounding AS Monaco’s desire to sign the Arsenal forward.
It’s recalled that the principality side have already made a bid ‘slightly lower than €40m’ for the USA international, which was rejected by the London club.
Balogun is ‘top of the list’ of their striker search, and the 22-year-old is ‘ready to join’ the Ligue 1 side, whom he faced last year when on loan at Stade de Reims.
However, with him still having two years left on his contract with Arsenal, the Gunners are ‘hoping for near €50m’ from a transfer.
Despite this, ‘exchanges are moving positively’, suggesting that some sort of agreement could be on the horizon and Balogun could soon be free from his unwanted Emirates nightmare.
