With just a handful of appearances in the league this season and hardly anything else in the other competitions, there is a feeling that Emile Smith Rowe needs to leave Arsenal, at least temporarily.

This is why it isn’t surprising to see news from Italy, from La Lazio Siamo Noi, claiming that the midfielder has been ‘offered’ to Lazio via some intermediaries as we approach the end of the transfer window.

They explain the 23-year-old is having a ‘complicated season’ with Arsenal, having started just the one game in the Premier League, and while many clubs in England do like him, a move abroad has been sought.

The Gunners would even be willing to let him go on a ‘dry loan’, meaning a six-month deal with no option to buy, because while Mikel Arteta isn’t using Smith Rowe now, he wants to later.

It’s said that Arsenal are ‘betting heavily’ on the midfielder’s talent in the long run, but simply helping out the Gunners isn’t something Lazio want to do.

They state that while he was offered to the Serie A club, the intermediaries didn’t find ‘great support’ from Rome, mostly because they are not looking for someone of his profile, focusing more on an out and out winger like Sunderland’s Jack Clarke.
