Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has less than 100 days to convince Italy manager Luciano Spalletti he is worthy a place in his squad for Euro 2024 this summer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover Italy’s plans ahead of the summer and how the ‘countdown’ is now on to the summer tournament.
They explain that Spalletti is studying the idea of changing from a 4-3-3 formation to a 3-4-2-1 system which is good news as that’s another system which the Arsenal midfielder could fit into.
Jorginho has been out of the last four squads under Spalletti but has fought his way back into the picture at Arsenal since his last appearance, which means he’s back on the radar for Italy.
The belief is that he’s certainly carved out a space for himself with his performances for Arsenal in recent months and now has 100 days, until the start of Euro 2024, to convince Spalletti to bring him back.
At club level, meanwhile, it remains to be seen where his future lies. Arsenal are considering the possibility of exercising the option of extending his contract beyond June 30th.
They have the option to do so but the power is in their hands, otherwise the midfielder would be ready to consider other offers and is looking favourably on a return to Italy and Serie A.
That’s another story, though, for now the focus is on Arsenal and convincing Spalletti he’s worthy of a call-up.
