While the Italian press are seemingly in charge of trying to find out who will replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea, a large chunk of the French press are focusing on Arsenal and the potential heir to Arsène Wenger’s legacy.

Luis Enrique appeared to be top of the list, until the Bosnian press decided to throw Željko Buvač, Liverpool’s current assistant manager, into the mix, causing widespread panic within the Gunners fanbase.

However, those two aren’t the only ones being looked at, as France Football claim Leonardo Jardim is high on Arsenal’s list of Wenger replacement.

According to the French magazine, it all started back when Monaco had that impressive run in the Champions League, beating Manchester City on the way to reaching the competition’s semi-finals, adding to an already impressive domestic run where they ended up lifting the Ligue 1 trophy.

As well as his success, the Arsenal board are very keen on his desire to bring young talent through from his club’s youth setup; something Wenger has always tried to do, as shown by his lineup against Manchester United at the weekend.

The reason why their attention has turned to Leonardo Jardim is Luis Enrique’s demands, with the Spaniard reportedly asking for a transfer budget of €230m to try and bolster the club’s defence and midfield.

Judging by Arsenal’s previous transfer windows, that seemed like a bold ask.

Also mentioned in the article are Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira, but only to make it clear neither will be appointed, as the former isn’t on good terms with Wenger these days, while the latter is currently mid-MLS season with New York City FC.
