Arsenal are ‘on the lookout’ for Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga but could face competition from Manchester United for his signature.
That’s according to AS, who say both sides are keen on the 20-year-old who is establishing himself as ‘one of the fashionable’ players in La Liga.
The newspaper explains that the 20-year-old has been shining since being moved into the Celta Vigo first team in the summer, becoming ‘one of the revelations’ of Spanish football.
In January he did not have a number in the squad but by February he was among the player of the month candidates and currently has a tally of six goals and two assists in 21 league games.
He is Celta’s move ‘decisive’ player after striker Iago Aspas and the high level he is showing is ‘not going unnoticed’ by the big teams in Spanish football or the Premier League.
Indeed, several English sides ‘have already monitored him’ and both Arsenal and Manchester United are ‘on the lookout’ for his performances.
Celta naturally would prefer to not lose the player as he is now their ‘main asset’ but they are aware of the interest and know it will be ‘very difficult’ to keep him this summer.
Should he leave they are ‘convinced’ that the midfielder will become the highest transfer in the club’s history and are hoping to secure a figure of around €30m.
Whether Arsenal or Manchester United will be willing to pay that isn’t mentioned but they are certainly in the picture and keeping an eye on his development.
