Loaned to Oviedo for the season, Marcelo Flores was meant to get regular football in Spain, but that wasn’t to be.
The Arsenal youngster made just 15 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga2 side this season, with just over half of those being starts.
Most came during the first half of the season, which is why Oviedo aren’t planning on keeping him beyond the current campaign, according to Kery News, relayed by La Media Titular.
The outlet explain that the young midfielder ‘returns’ to Arsenal after his rather unproductive spell in Spain, and will ‘analyse his future’.
The Gunners recently extended his contract until 2025, meaning there is still a chance for him to have another loan, and they have ‘no intention’ of offering him around for anything other than a temporary spell.
This means no definitive sale for Flores, who will have to make do with a move for one season somewhere next year.
As to where the Arsenal man could go, it’s said that there are ‘still no rumours of interested teams’, but Kery News did make it clear that he will not be going to Mexico.
