If the Bergamo edition of Corriere della Sera is to be believed on Tuesday, Arsenal could make an unexpected return for Udinese’s Jakub Jankto.

The Czech midfielder, currently contracted to Udinese, has been an alleged target for the Gunners for quite some time now, with articles in our archives dating back to 2016.

At the time, it was Arsène Wenger allegedly asking Arsenal officials to ‘continue the pursuit’ for the then 20-year-old, and this continued all the way through to January 2018.

With the Frenchman now out of the job, we half expected these to go away, but the Italian media seem intent on keeping hold of it amid rumours Jankto could be on his way to Atalanta.

The young midfielder has made it clear in the past that a move to England is something he’d quite enjoy, but teams are yet to come forward and give Udinese what they want.

Corriere della Sera believe the Serie A side would accept an offer of around €14m, and they write that despite Atalanta’s interest, ‘attention to Arsenal who could return after the interest of the past few months’.

One we’ll keep an eye on.
