Arsenal remain interested in defender Alex Grimaldo, who is also a target for Juventus as they look to replace Alex Sandro.
That’s according to journalist Niccolò Ceccarini on Tuttomercatoweb, who says the Gunners are someone to keep an eye on when it comes to the defender’s future.
He explains that Juventus are looking at players to bolster that position in their squad and is seen as an ‘opportunity’ as his contract is set to expire next summer.
He’s shown no willingness to sign a new deal at Benfica and Juventus are ‘ready to seize the opportunity’ if they can.
However, they face competition from Arsenal, who are ‘also interested’ in the Spaniard and potentially eyeing up a move.
That’s nothing new as Arsenal’s interest has been known for a while. In fact, just yesterday we covered a report that said they were in the picture for a potential €10m deal in January.
On the face of it a move doesn’t make sense given the outlay on Aleksandr Zinchenko in the summer and Kieran Tierney also being in the squad.
The Scottish international has been beset by injuries since moving to the Emirates, tough, and perhaps the Gunners are planning for a future without him and eyeing Grimaldo as a cheap replacement.
That remains to be seen, but it seems in Italy, and Juventus in particular, they are seen as contenders for Grimaldo.
