Arsenal are not the only club interested in a move for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodríguez this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who back up the Gunners interest in the defensive midfielder but claim they face competition from at least two other clubs for his signature.
Arsenal were named as suitors for Rodríguez yesterday, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that they intend to ‘push hard’ for him in the summer after scouting him this season.
It was stated that Betis need the money from a sale, and Rodríguez, who was signed for €3m in January 2020, would bring them a huge profit, particularly as he has an €80m release clause.
In fact, one of those clubs have already sounded out both Betis and the player about a potential move this summer.
Betis, for their part, will not demand the €80m release clause in Rodríguez’s contract but refer to that and still want an ‘important’ sum as they consider him an important player and would prefer to let others go first.
The player is also reluctant to move as he is guaranteed regular playing time both domestically and in Europe, the latter of which he feels is important for him.
Thus, it seems Arsenal have something of a fight on their hands to get the man they want, with his club, the player’s wishes and the interest from elsewhere all obstacles they need to clear.
