Arsenal right-back Cedric Soares has spoken to his home country’s media this week, in an exclusive interview with Eleven Sports.

The Premier League break was one of the subjects in the chat, especially because that stopped him from making his debut for the Gunners following the loan from Southampton in January.

Cedric Soares claims to be pretty happy at Arsenal so far, with some special compliments to be made to the city of London and to manager Mikel Arteta.

“Arsenal are a huge club, and I have a better idea of that being inside. It’s a club that, from a very early age, I liked a lot, because I followed the Premier League and sympathised with Arsenal. Even because there was a time when the club won practically everything. Being at the club has been very positive, the players have treated me very well, since I arrived they have been very cool with me,” Cedric told Eleven Sports (via Record).

“London was a city that I already knew and I feel very good here. Arteta is a very complete coach. I’m still getting to know him, but he’s shown many qualities. He’s concerned with all areas, both psychological and tactical.”

On the relationship with his new teammates, he says the language has been making things easier than they used to be at Southampton, since he can speak a little more of the idioms he knows.

“There are many Latin players, who speak Portuguese or Spanish, something that in Southampton practically didn’t exist.”

But most of the chat was actually about his former club Sporting and the national team. Cedric was expected to be in the squad for the Euros this year, and now isn’t so sure about what will happen in 2021.

“Of course it’s with some sadness that we see the postponement, because we were all anxious to play. But, on the positive side, we will be champions of Europe for five years. It’s an Euros in which all Portuguese players want to be present, and of course I want to be there, it’s my goal. I’ll do my best for the club and then play for the national team.”
