Arsenal are insisting that a purchase obligation be included in any deal taking Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan to Sevilla this summer.

That’s according to AS, who say Arsenal ‘get tough’ in negotiations with the Spanish side, even if they are willing to sanction another loan deal for the Belgian.

The newspaper back up reports elsewhere in Spain that state Lokonga is of ‘great interest’ to Sevilla this summer as they look to strengthen their squad with a limited budget.

They’ve been exploring a deal with the Gunners for the midfielder but have found matters hindered by Arsenal, who are making demands they cannot match.

Sevilla can only do a loan deal at this moment in time and while Arsenal have no problem with Lokonga going out on loan again after spells with Luton and Crystal Palace, they also want to make sure they can get rid of him permanently.

To do this they are insisting that a ‘purchase obligation’ be included in the deal at the end of the season. Sevilla aren’t in a position to do that, though.

Their finances are tight, and they cannot afford to ‘mortgage’ their future on the purchase of a player who has had a difficult few years in England.

Thus, they’re yet to really progress in talks, with it clear ‘Arsenal rules’ at the moment unless an alternative arrangement can be found that suits both clubs.
