Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen are in the picture to sign AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche this summer, according to Africa Foot.
There’s ‘growing interest’ in the winger, who managed seven goals and 12 assists from 43 games last season.
Arsenal and Bayern Leverkusen are said to be keen on snatching him away from Monaco.
Bayer Leverkusen are starting a new project under Erik ten Hag and have identified the 23-year-old as a priority target. They feel he can immediately make an impact and also contribute regularly both in the short and medium term.
The Bundesliga club have to be wary of Arsenal, who have closely monitored him. The report states Gunners scouts were impressed ‘by his activity between the lines, his vision, and his ability to create danger in the final 30 metres’.
Africa Foot explain Arsenal could intensify their interest and efforts in the coming weeks, especially if one of their attackers were to leave.
The ‘battle promises to be fierce’ between Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen as both are ready to bet on Akliouche. At this moment in time, Monaco haven’t received any official offers.
After Africa Foot published their report, L’Equipe then came with their own update on the north London club.
Arsenal want to sign Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres and have been in regular contact with his agent, Hasan Çetinkaya. He also represents the Monaco player.
L’Equipe states that when Çetinkaya and Arsenal held talks for the Swedish striker, they also discussed Akliouche. His contract is until 2028, and they report adds the Ligue 1 club aren’t willing to sell him for less than €70m.
