Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney will complete a loan move to Real Sociedad ‘in the next few hours’ as the two clubs work on bureaucratic issues in the deal.
That’s according to AS, who back up reports from England and say Tierney could fly to Spain this weekend for a medical at his new club.
The newspaper reports La Real ‘hope to close’ a loan deal with an option to buy for Tierney shortly, with them currently locked in negotiations and finalising details with Arsenal.
They cite the reports in England, which they have been able to confirm also, and Radio San Sebastian, who say there are ‘good feelings’ at the Spanish club that they can close a loan deal for Tierney quickly.
The reality of the situation is that said paperwork needs to be done in the next 24 hours but ‘everything is practically agreed’ between the relevant parties.
Indeed, there is a belief that Tierny may travel to San Sebastián over the weekend to undergo the relevant medical checks, sign his contract and be announced.
Arsenal had initially shown no intention to let Tierney go but a realisation that the player wouldn’t feature much under Mikel Arteta this season led the Scottish international to ask to be let out.
The option of trying his hand in Spanish football has ‘seduced him’ and he has accepted Real Sociedad’s proposal as a result. He’s now edging closer to joining on a loan which will include a purchase clause set for €15m.
That clause will not be a mandatory one, despite Arsenal having initially wanted it to be so as they sought an economic benefit from his departure.
The move will bring an end to a long pursuit of Tierney from Real Sociedad, who have waited patiently until the end of the window for an opportunity to get him from Arsenal.
