As Napoli star Victor Osimhen continues to live surrounded by transfer rumours, Arsenal are still named as one of the contenders for his signing.

Some fresh updates on the player’s future were today brought on Rai, with pundit Ciro Venerato claiming that his new contract with the Serie A side won’t hold him at the club.

Quoted by CalcioNapoli24, the journalist now claims that Arsenal ‘had contact’ to sign Osimhen ‘in recent weeks’ and are ‘concretely’ interested in signing him.

The Gunners reportedly got in touch with the striker’s entourage and are fighting for the signing, despite competition from Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Osimhen is believed to have a release clause worth €140m, although clubs could still try to negotiate with Napoli for a cheaper deal.

The striker is not having such an impressive season with the Italian club, but continues to have satisfying numbers, with eight goals and three assists in 18 appearances so far.

As the race for his signing goes on, it’s interesting to see that Arsenal remain strong in a pursuit of such an expensive player.
