Arsenal are among the clubs ready to move for Celta Vigo’s rising star Gabriel Veiga, with the Spanish side almost resigned to losing him this summer.
That’s according to AS, who say that Celta have accepted it is a ‘fantasy’ to expect the youngster to be playing at the club next season.
They explain that Celta have accepted he is likely to depart after a breakthrough season in Spain that has most of Europe looking at a possible deal for him.
He is receiving a lot of interest from England in particular, where Arsenal are one of several sides ‘chasing the midfielder of the future’.
They all know that Celta would be ‘delighted’ if they were to receive €40m for the player, a figure that would be almost double their club record transfer.
Furthermore, they can offer him ‘dizzying figures’ in terms of salary that the Spanish club cannot hope to match, another motivation for the player to make the switch at the end of the season.
The only alternative to Veiga not ending up in the Premier League is if he moves to Real Madrid, who have not opened contacts yet but have a real interest in him also.
First the youngster will need to choose a new agency to represent him and has brought the shortlist down to three, and once that is finalised, the focus will turn to his future.
That could be at Arsenal, who are very much in the mix for his signature as they look to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad in the summer.
