Arsenal and Aston Villa are in the picture to sign Barcelona’s Ferrán Torres, according to claims from Catalonia today.
Recent claims in the English press have stated the Gunners and Unai Emery’s side are showing interest in the forward. It was also reported the La Liga side would be willing to listen to offers for him.
This is relayed by Catalan newspaper Sport, who then provide their own take on Arsenal and Aston Villa.
The two English clubs have Spanish managers, Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery. The coaches appreciate the Spain international, who spent 18 months at Manchester City between August 2020 and January 2022.
Barca brought Torres back to La Liga and gave him a contract until 2027. He was linked with a move away from the Camp Nou in the summer window, but the attacker wasn’t willing to leave.
Torres has played 430 minutes from 10 games this season. He’s currently behind Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski in the pecking order. The former Valencia man has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the start of this month.
It’s claimed Arsenal and Aston Villa are ‘willing to pay a reasonable price’ for Torres, without mentioning any figures.
Hansi Flick’s side, for their part, have no plans to let any players leave in January. Sport add if there’s a possible exit, Ansu Fati is may be likelier to leave than Torres.
