On November 1st, Sport explaned Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a firm candidate for Barcelona in the future.
The Spaniard has helped the Gunners currently sit top of the table with 37 points after 14 games, and they’re five points ahead of Manchester City.
Arteta continued to receive support from the club’s owners when he failed to qualify for the Champions League. This has allowed him to rebuild the team since taking charge at Arsenal in December 2019.
This is highlighted by a ‘confidential’ report from Thursday’s Sport, where they say he is on the future agenda of both the La Liga side and Manchester City. The newspaper states it’s no secret that Barca are very attentive to the ex-Everton midfielder.
It’s claimed the north London club’s American owners are ‘already pressing’ the manager to sign a new deal so that he can commit to a long-term project at the Emirates.
Arteta, for his part, is aware that he is also looked at by Manchester City to replace Pep Guardiola in 2025. The Catalan club are also in the mix.
With City and Barcelona keeping tabs on Arteta for the future, Sport explain the 40-year-old ‘does not want to rush and goes very calmly’ when deciding his future.
