Four days ago, Corriere dello Sport reported Arsenal director Edu’s close ties with Joshua Zirkzee’s agent Kia Joorabchian could help the Gunners sign the Bologna star.

At the weekend, Calciomercato stated Mikel Arteta’s side are AC Milan’s ‘dangerous rival’ in the race for the striker. Juventus have also been credited with an interest in him.

Several claims, at least in Italy, have talked about Arsenal as one of the main contenders to sign the 22-year-old in the summer window.

Former Netherlands manager Frank de Boer has been speaking to the Italian media, relayed by Calciomercato.it, and he was asked whether the Dutchman should continue in Serie A or move to the Premier League.

When responding to that, he explained why the north London club are the best option for his compatriot.

“I have great respect for Arsenal, they have patience, for example they had it with Arteta who didn’t start well. At certain clubs like that you are already out. And they have played very well in the last two years, Inter also play well,” he said.

“If I have to say someone, I prefer Arsenal, because they have the patience to wait for him and give him confidence.”

Meanwhile, Tuttosport journalist Daniele Galosso told TV Play’s Ti Amo Calciomercato.it why Juve are behind Arsenal in the race to sign Zirkzee, and his comments are relayed by Calciomercato.it.

“On Zirkzee, however, the competition is high: from what we understand, Arsenal have the advantage for the Dutchman,” Galosso explained.

Zirkzee has managed 12 goals and seven assists from 37 games this season.
