Arsenal have ‘advanced’ in their pursuit for the signing of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, according to claims from Brazil.
UOL today writes there’s been an evolution in the talks, and they’re now closer to the numbers for the transfer, salary and commissions.
It’s claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side want €60m with the move, and the negotiations are on course for a fee of at least €50m.
The Gunners are said to be the favourites to land the 26-year-old, especially because of the relationship between Edu Gaspar and Gabriel Jesus, who worked together at the national team. They also have the help of Mikel Arteta, who used to be an assistant coach at Manchester City and knows the player as well.
UOL says the full numbers involved could be similar to those Manchester City are spending on the purchase of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, which will simply be relating to the base price.
But even though the arrival of a new centre-forward may look like the reason for Jesus to leave, the report says the Brazilian’s plan to ‘seek a role as a protagonist’ comes from before this new signing.
It’s said Arsenal are seen as an option who can give Jesus more minutes, and that will be very important for a player who’s looking for a place in the national team squad for the World Cup.
