Thilo Kehrer spent the Christmas period being linked with multiple clubs as it became clear he’d likely be spending the second half of this season elsewhere than West Ham.
David Moyes hasn’t been able to give the defender the minutes and prominence that he desires and to help his development continue, and potentially find a new long term home, a move in January looked the obvious solution.
Multiple clubs in Italy and Germany were linked with taking the player, yet on Tuesday it was reported in France that AS Monaco would be his new destination for the rest of the current campaign.
Things are moving quickly and Wednesday’s edition of L’Equipe states the Hammers player should arrive ‘in the coming hours’ to be able to complete his move to the French principality club.
Monaco will be paying a loan fee of €500k to West Ham, with a purchase option of €11m, and Kehrer is expected to have his medical tests at some point today.
