Arne Slot has continued to play down the job he’s done at Liverpool so far, insisting his style isn’t different to anyone else in the Premier League.

Algemeen Dagblad have an interview with the Liverpool manager today in which he insists he doesn’t believe ‘Slot ball’ exists.

The Dutch coach has been a revelation since arriving at Liverpool in the summer, leading them to the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables at Christmas.

Many had expected him to struggle given he was replacing a legend in Jurgen Klopp at Anfield but that has not been the case.

Instead, it has been steady work from Slot and his team so far, with the former Feyenoord boss taking an adapt not change approach to Liverpool.

That’s seen him implement some of his ideas and build on what Klopp did previously, rather than rip up and start again as some managers have tried to do when following big names at other clubs.

It’s something that has worked superbly so far but has left some wondering what exactly is Slot’s style in the modern, tactics defined Premier League of today.

It’s something he can’t answer himself, admitting he sees plenty of other managers in his system and doesn’t think it’s particularly unique.

“Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta and Enzo Maresca are doing pretty much the same thing, I think,” he said.

“There are enough overlaps between me and other trainers so being unique as a trainer is almost impossible. “I don’t do anything that no one else in the world does.

“You may not often see a trainer bringing in so many attackers in the final phase of a match to achieve a victory. That’s part of me, I think. How I want my teams to play football.

“I put almost all attacking players on the field against Nottingham Forest when we were behind at Anfield at the beginning of the season, but that didn’t work out well. All connections were somewhat lost that afternoon, so to speak. But later it turned out very well a few times. Also, against Fulham when we played with one man less for almost the entire match.”
