Atalanta’s interest in signing Birmingham City’s Jordan James is getting regular coverage in the Italian media.
On Wednesday, Calcio Atalanta raised doubts about La Dea making an approach for the 19-year-old because Gian Piero Gasperini ‘doesn’t believe’ in the January market. It was also said the midfielder’s arrival would force the Serie A side to get rid of another player.
Less than 24 hours later, Tutto Atalanta provide a completely different take on the Serie A side’s pursuit of the Birmingham City player.
The Italian club are ready to launch an assault on James and it’s led by their managing director, Lee Congerton.
It’s claimed the Atalanta official has ‘persuaded’ Birmingham City to part ways with James in the winter market for a fee ‘shy of’ €5-6m. The outlet states this is an ‘armed robbery’ on the winter market.
Tutto Atalanta add the Blues are ready to give up on the Wales international, as they have to improve their finances. Their title says ‘James is arriving’, which indicates there’s some sort of optimism at Atalanta about securing the deal.
Last week, TuttoMercatoWeb reported the youngster has an agreement with the Italian club for a contract until 2028, worth €750,000 per year.
