Spanish newspaper Marca have unsurprisingly picked up the Isco to Tottenham Hotspur rumours which started with The Daily Mirror over the weekend.
The pair have been perceived as not putting in enough effort at all times, acting immaturely on the bench and generally as substitutes, and not giving absolute everything to save their Madrid careers, more so with James.
With the Colombian international not going anywhere, largely because no club have yet been preapred to pay a high enough fee to spare Florentino Perez’s blushes, the next choice woould be Isco.
The Mirror claimed: ‘So Isco – a Spain international – is the one to leave, with White Hart Lane his likely destination.’
The idea is that Isco would join Tottenham on loan for the next season. Marca don’t dismiss it, pointing out Zinedine Zidane keeps saying: “Until the 31st, it (transfers) could happen.”
He did dismiss a James exit, but left an opportunity slightly open for those who may want Isco or others.
Tottenham’s problem on this, or one of their problems, would be that Isco only has two years left of his contract. Real Madrid may be wary of loaning out a player and then welcoming him back when he has only a year left and there’s pressure on his value.
On the flip side he could impress at Spurs and then be worth more anyway, it depends on whether Perez wants a gamble, and how strong Tottenham interest actually is.
It must be noted we’ve seen nothing weighty in Spain suggesting that Tottenham have actually made contact.
