Everton forward Jesper Lindstrøm has found himself being defended back in Italy, with journalist Paolo Esposito laying into those making claims about him.
Area Napoli cover comments from the journalist today as he hits back at claims over the Danish winger following his move to Everton.
Lindstrøm has joined the Toffees on a season-long loan deal earlier this month, bringing an end to a miserable year in Naples following a big move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
He had arrived at the Italian club with a big reputation following his time in Germany but struggled last season, unaided by the chaos that seemed to envelop Napoli under various managers.
That led to plenty of criticism, which has continued since he was loaned to Everton, with many decreeing him a flop and a waste of money.
They will sincerely be hoping that he can bounce back at Everton, who have negotiated a loan deal that sees them paying an upfront fee as well as then having the option to sign the player on a permanent basis for €22m next summer.
While most see that as a good deal for all involved, the usual comments have been made in Italy, something Esposito is less than impressed with.
“Some other joker has already ruled from the height of his hatred for the current Italian club that Napoli had a bloodbath with Lindstrøm,” he said.
“They also got the price tag of the young and talented Dane wrong for whom Napoli didn’t pay €30m as some jokers always say but €25m, not one cent more. Now they have sold him on a costly loan of €3m to Everton, with another €22m on redemption and therefore, Napoli would fully recover their investment.
“€25m and also with a one-year amortisation. So, no bloodbath. If some individuals were well informed and not just by hearsay, they wouldn’t write such stupid things!”
