Manchester United made an attempt to sign Atletico Madrid star Angel Correa last summer, reports Italian website Calciomercato.
However, Atletico Madrid’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, wasn’t interested in selling Correa, who has already made 5 appearances for the Argentine national team.
Manchester United are not the only club interested in signing the 21-year-old, with Serie A giants Juventus also very keen on him.
Juventus have reportedly already tried signing Correa twice in the past, but have failed with their approaches.
Calciomercato say Correa could be temped to sign for another club if he is offered higher wages, or when Diego Simeone leaves Atletico Madrid.
The Argentine star has started the season impressively with 3 goals and 3 assists in 10 league appearances.
Correa has a contract until 2019 at Atletico Madrid, but it’s a bit unlikely he’ll be leaving anytime soon as he has slowly started to play more often at La Liga club.
The 21-year-old is highly rated by many, and it’d be a bit shocking if Atletico Madrid sell him in the near future.
Corre is a relatively new link for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United and it may be interesting to see if this one picks up again in the future.
