Jakub Moder deserves praise for deciding to leave Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window, with the move to Feyenoord very much working out for him.

1908.nl cover comments from Poland coach Michael Probierz on the midfielder today, as well as statements from the former Brighton man made to Foot Truck in Poland.

Moder elected to leave Brighton in the January transfer window after finding himself out of the picture this season.

He joined Feyenoord in a €1.5m deal, bringing an end to a five-year stay with Brighton that had failed to live up to expectations after he arrived for €11m in 2020.

He’s not looked back with the Dutch side, firmly establishing himself as a key player and earning rave reviews from fans and pundits alike for his performances to date.

The move is very much working out for him and Probierz believes he deserves praise for making it in the first place.

“This transfer was an excellent choice,” he said.

“He has already shown what he is worth in the games he has played so far. I watched him play live and I was impressed. That’s why I believe he will be an important force for the national team in the coming years.”

The key for Moder is getting regular playing time under his belt after struggling to bounce back from a cruciate ligament injury in 2022 that saw him miss 576 days and 93 games for Poland and Brighton.

Poland continued to show faith in him during that tricky period and in recent years too, and Moder is grateful for that as it helped with the move to Feyenoord.

“That made me stay in the picture with other clubs. If I hadn’t played at both Brighton and the national team, it would have been more difficult to find a new club,” he added.

“Now it’s up to me to continue this line and help Feyenoord to a successful season.”
