German outlet Bild has an article with some interesting information on Chelsea and Manchester City interest in RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
As previously reported by them, it were Pep Guardiola’s side who first moved for the 20-year-old, which happened a few weeks ago. According to the report, the Premier League champions had submitted a €80m bid for his signing.
It turns out that now, Chelsea ‘entered the race’ for him and a €90m fee ‘was under discussion’.
Bild writes this was an ‘almost immoral offer’ from the Blues, but that should still not be enough to take him from Leipzig. They say the deal ‘does not go through’ and the player is staying in the Bundesliga for longer.
Meanwhile, Bild journalist Christian Falk also comes up with some updates on this chase. It was at the start of August that he first claimed that Chelsea and Manchester City were both interested in Gvardiol, and now he brings some quotes from RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff about the case.
“Josko still has a contract with us until 2026. We assume that he will not only play with us this season, but also next season,” said the official, with Falk claiming he ‘doesn’t want to sell Josko Gvardiol to Chelsea’.
