The big news so far this week around a potential Liverpool exit is all about Mohamed Salah, after the attacker made a point of telling the media he’s more out than in at Anfield.

With a contract expiring at the end of the current season, Salah claimed he’d not been offered a new deal by the Premier League club.

Arne Slot has tried to calm down the situation, but it seems clear Salah wanted to get a message out there and that would suggest talks behind the scenes haven’t exactly been going swimmingly.

Salah isn’t the only Liverpool star with a contract expiring in June 2025, with captain Virgil van Dijk and local boy Trent Alexander-Arnold in the same situation.

Ahead of Real Madrid playing at Anfield this week, the Spanish media have been looking to speak to anyone they can about Liverpool and topics around the club right now.

It’s no surprise they’ve found their way to John Aldridge, who has been a talking head for the Reds for as long as most can remember.

Spanish newspaper AS have asked him several questions, one of which related to Alexander-Arnold and whether he’s leaving.

Aldridge is of the belief he is, and AS quote him as saying: “I would love for him to stay at Liverpool because he is a great player and has been here for a long time. He will be a free agent and it will depend on him. I wish he would still be here, but I don’t think that will be the case. All signs point to him leaving and that’s my intuition too.”

He was also asked whether it would be better for Liverpool to beat Manchester City or Real Madrid in the coming days, and answered: “City, without a doubt. Real Madrid, in this early stage of the Champions League, do not yet represent a great threat because if we fail we will still qualify, but we can deal a very hard blow to City in terms of the title. They are in a bad moment and we have to take advantage of it.”
