Dominik Szoboszlai scored his first goal of this season in Liverpool’s Champions League win over AC Milan earlier this week.
Liverpool had to come from behind to seal a 3-1 victory, after Christian Pulisic scored for the Serie A side in the third minute. Szoboszlai got his name on the scoresheet in the second half, with the Reds’ third goal.
After the tie, the attacking midfielder exchanged shirts with a Rossoneri player. He was then seen wearing the Milan shirt.
DAZN had a chat with the 23-year-old, and they asked him why he was wearing the Milan shirt. When responding to that, relayed by Spazio Milan, the Hungary international revealed his admiration for the San Siro club.
“Why was I wearing the Milan shirt? Because I’m a Milan fan, all my friends know that. In my house in Budapest there is a photo of me with Paolo Maldini when my grandmother took me to meet him,” he said.
Despite publicly revealing his love for Milan, he’s unlikely to make a switch to the San Siro in the near future.
Liverpool took the player from RB Leipzig in July 2023, after activating his release clause. He has a contract at Anfield lasting until 2028.
Szoboszlai finished his debut season at Liverpool with seven goals and four assists from 45 games.
