Jese Rodriguez has now been ‘close’ to signing for Middlesbrough for several days, after French newspaper L’Equipe claimed his agent is speaking to the Premier League club and a deal was edging forward.
The 23-year-old has failed to make an impact at Paris-Saint Germain, after his £22m switch in the summer from Real Madrid.
According to a latest report from L’Equipe, Middlesbrough already have an agreement with Paris-Saint German over a loan deal, but the player is reluctant to sign for the Premier League club.
Jese wants to sign for Las Palmas, but Paris-Saint Germain want him to sign for Middlesbrough due to financial reasons. L’Equipe say Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has been calling Jese every day to convince him, but so far hasn’t had any joy.
Both Las Palmas and Middlesbrough have continued discussions with Jese and PSG, and they hope to find an agreement before the deadline day.
Middlesbrough are being very patient with Jese, perhaps too patient, and it’s a wonder no bigger La Liga sides have come in for the player… which may say something in itself.
