Christian Eriksen has repeatedly been linked with move to Anderlecht over the past week, with the Belgian media obviously quite excited about the prospect of the Manchester United player arriving.

The 32-year-old has a contract at Old Trafford lasting until June 2025, and if he stays then this is very likely to be his final season with the Premier League.

Therefore, part of the temptation for a move could be a longer contract elsewhere, and also having the prospect of being more important to the team.

Manchester United’s views on a potential transfer aren’t clear, although it seems safe to say that if Eriksen wants to go then he won’t be prevented from doing so, probably being able to leave for a small fee.

Belgium’s DH Sport report Anderlecht manager Brian Riemer was been asked about what’s happened with regards to the potential transfer, and he’s quoted as saying: “I don’t have any news for you. Or at least: I’m not going to tell you in detail the ins and outs of each file. These are internal processes. On the other hand, I can tell you that we are working hard to have several reinforcements by the end of the transfer window, on September 6. I can also tell you that we are on several tracks, if we don’t manage to complete certain transfers. But we are aiming high.”

DH Sport say Eriksen ‘clearly remains a prospect’ for Anderlecht as they look to improve ahead of the new season.
