Earlier this week, amid the links between Liverpool and Ruben Amorim, we saw the agent of Viktor Gyokeres claiming that the coach’s exit could lead to the striker’s departure as well.
Hasan Cetinkaya spoke to a couple of newspapers saying the centre-forward joined the Lions because of the coach, meaning he won’t have many reasons to stay in case the boss actually leaves for Liverpool.
A Bola now feature a fresh story on this subject, and it’s pointed out that the agent’s statements didn’t go down very well at Sporting.
Liverpool have no fault, as the Lions’ president Frederico Varandas and director Hugo Viana are aware of the Reds’ interest in Amorim, but the Reds won’t want Sporting to become overly irritated with the situation.
A Bola managed to interview former Sporting board member Aurtor Torres Pereira, who now came up against Amorim’s departure from the club this summer.
“I won’t comment on what his agent says. If you ask me about Ruben Amorim, I’ll say that for the good of Sporting in the coming years it would be to have him in the image of Alex Ferguson. Let the conditions be created to make him our Ferguson, who spent decades at Manchester United. Let Amorim replicate what Ferguson did in England.”
As we covered yesterday, Sporting will not negotiate the €20m clause – at all – if the situation becomes forced. Earlier today, Amorim had to dismiss claims he’s been interviewed by Liverpool or even agreed to join them.
Things could get difficult for Liverpool if it’s believed the manager is being unsettled.
Sporting are expected to win their next few matches relatively easily. If that doesn’t happen then it can be near certain the annoyance with outside pressures will grow.
