On Tuesday morning, we’ve seen claims from Spain saying Newcastle United are one of the contenders for the signing of Ansu Fati from Barcelona.
As his agent Jorge Mendes was set to speak to the Camp Nou side, it was claimed the Magpies are one of the most interested clubs in his transfer.
It turns out that the representative has now arrived in Barcelona, and Sport brings the latest news on that meeting.
The outlet managed to ask Mendes about Fati’s future, and the agent said: “Ansu is a great player, he has shown all his value before the injury, he showed that he is a phenomenon and now we’re going to see what’s going to happen”.
Asked if Fati is more ‘out than in’ at Barcelona, Mendes responded: “We’ll see. I can’t say anything”.
Sport writes that Mendes is now set to meet Ansu Fati and his entourage to speak about his situation, and then will speak to Barcelona about a potential departure.
This time, the outlet does not mention Newcastle or any other competitor for the signing.
With El Chiringuito also filming the agent’s arrival in Barcelona, journalist Josep Pedrerol also comments that the representative is set to ‘present offers’ to Barça.
So if Newcastle are really going after Fati, their bid may be about to be shown to the La Liga side.
