Earlier on Monday, we covered a story from Gazzetta dello Sport suggesting that Tottenham still very much want Nicolo Zaniolo.
The problem for Spurs is that their current offer, a loan with an obligatory option to buy for €25m, isn’t enough to convince AS Roma.
Should they change the formula, and certainly add a bit more money on the table, then perhaps there could be some constructive talks between the two sides, but that has yet to happen.
That being said, there is one man trying to get a deal over the line, it seems, and that’s the player’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli.
This comes courtesy of Il Tempo, who claim he is ‘talking to Tottenham to see if there are margins for an offer in line with AS Roma’s demands: €50m cash, with no counterpart’.
As for José Mourinho in all this, he would ‘like to keep the boy’, but it seems pretty clear that if the right offer comes in for the 23-year-old, the Serie A side would probably cash in.
However, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham, who have already spent heavily, will want to fork out that much on a young player with a history of serious knee injuries.
