The agent of Palermo defender Achraf Lazaar has told the Italian media there’s still a chance his client could remain in Italy, despite speculation he’s set to leave the club.
Palermo could look to sell the 24-year-old before next week’s deadline, and Newcastle United are keen to get a deal done for the Morocco international.
Yesterday we covered reports from the Italian media that Lazaar’s agent was holding a meeting in Milan with the sporting director of Palermo.
Throughout the summer there have been constant rumours the left back will be leaving the Sicilian side due to his contract situation, and clubs from England have been tracking the player with the latest being Newcastle United.
Following the meetings in Milan, TMW have reported on comments Lazaar’s agent Andrea Cattoli made to Italian TV in which he revealed the defender can still be at Palermo after the deadline despite the attention from other clubs.
“He can remain at Palermo,” said Cattoli.
Lazaar has just 12 months left on his contract with Palermo, and subsequently the Serie A side want to sell him in this transfer window to get a decent transfer fee for him.
