A few days ago, Italian website Calciomercato reported Arsenal tried to sign AC Milan’s young midfielder Manuel Locatelli during the transfer window. However, AC Milan boss Vincenzo Montella and vice-president Adriano Galliani convinced the 18-year-old to stay at the club.

Locatelli even extended his contract until 2020, and it’s believed he’s a crucial part of Montella’s future plans. His agent, Stephen Castelnovo, has been speaking to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, and was asked if his future lies with AC Milan.

Castelnovo confirmed the Arsenal target has extended his contract, and asked people not to pay attention to what is being said in the media. He said: “In spite of what is being said, Manuel has already renewed with Milan until 2020.”

Locatelli signing a new contract at AC Milan doesn’t change the situation too much if Arsenal are genuinely interested and are planning to revive their interest.

What it would likely change is the price, meaning Arsenal would have to pay more to get their man.
