Looking like one of the first possible Serie A transfers come the end of last season, Antonio Candreva’s exit from Lazio seems to be taking a bit longer than expected.
Strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan, the Italian winger is still currently contracted to the Rome club, and things haven’t exactly moved forward so far.
During the Euros, mostly due to Candreva being picked down the right and Antonio Conte being the Italy manager at the time, the Italian press were keen to send him to Chelsea, and it seems that’s where his agent is looking to send him as well.
Speaking to Tele Radio Stereo, relayed by Calciomercato, his representative said: “Candreva arrived at Lazio have to deal with insults from some of the fans. Now, he has conquered them all, but Antonio realises it’s time to face new challenges.
“Where to? I don’t like to talk about negotiations outside the appointed offices, but Antonio, for a life experience as well as a professional one, would obviously consider a move abroad. Premier League? Right now, it’s the best league. Look at Chelsea. In England, all the great champions want to go there.”
These comments seem to point towards a certain N’Golo Kanté moving from Premier League champions Leicester City to 10th placed Chelsea, forfeiting Champions League football at the same time, just because they are a ‘bigger’ club.
Also, you’d also expect them to pay a bit more.
It seems that with all the great managers flocking to the Premier League regardless of the European competitions they are in, we can expect big moves throughout the league.
