Two days ago, De Telegraaf reported Tottenham Hotspur have reached a verbal agreement with VfL Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven over a five-year deal.
A day later, the same outlet explained the defender and his agent made a trip to London to hold talks with Ange Postecoglou, which convinced the former to agree a deal with Spurs. There have been claims elsewhere about the two clubs negotiating a deal for the 22-year-old.
This was dismissed by Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer, who told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung that he hasn’t been approached by Tottenham so far.
“I have not spoken to any club about Micky van de Ven,” he said.
WAZ report the Bundesliga side’s official hasn’t even received a request from the centre-back to leave in the summer window.
José Fortes Rodriguez, the Dutchman’s agent, has also talked about the latest reports linking his client to the north London club.
“We have to talk to VfL first. I think Tottenham would be a good move for Micky. But there is no agreement,” Rodriguez explained.
Claims from England have stated a decision is expected soon on the player’s future. When asked about this, Van de Ven’s agent said: “Hard to say. We have to talk to VfL.”
Having sold Lukas Nmecha to Borussia Dortmund for €30m, WAZ now state Wolfsburg are not willing to let go of Van de Ven for less than €40m.
