Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié has admitted there were talks about a move, with Tottenham interested, although he was not personally involved in them.
Hincapié was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in the January transfer window after their interest was seemingly revived in him at the end of December.
They’re known to be long-term admirers of the Ecuadorian defender, who has been impressing with the German side since moving there in August 2021.
They were first linked in the middle of February last year, when it was stated, Antonio Conte had picked up on his performances as he eyed up a remodel of their defence.
Spurs have been regularly linked with a potential move ever since that point, with reports throughout the summer and in the build up to January making it clear that they are fans of the 21-year-old and could move for him in future.
Hincapié has now confirmed that talks were held with his agent, but he is not getting “dizzy” about the idea just yet.
“My agent says there were talks,” Studio Futbol report him saying when asked directly about interest to Tottenham.
“I never got involved in the subject. It’s not something to make me dizzy but to know that there are clubs interested in me and that I have to prove even more so that one day it becomes a reality.”
